In May 2019 Head of Zeus Press published ‘The Shadow King: the life and death of Henry VI’ by Lauren Johnson. The paperback version of the book will be released in Britain on 9 January 2020, ISBN 9781784979645. This popular history title was widely praised at the time, although some critics commented that there was too much of the novelist’s art on show - descriptions of the weather and other unprovables - but most reviewers were very complimentary. Given that this king is another with very few biographers it was also a very welcome addition to the slim selection of books examining Henry’s reign.
